Sustainability has become a firmly established term in public discourse. However, reducing it solely to an environmental dimension would mean losing a fundamental part of its meaning. Sustainability concerns the entire model of societal development: the economy, social relations, territorial organization, and, above all, the opportunities we can guarantee for future generations. In this complex scenario, the production and dissemination of knowledge become essential tools to guide change.
It is with this perspective that the Fondazione Simone Cesaretti ETS has for years promoted the Journal of Sustainability Studies, a scientific publication that represents one of the Foundation’s main tools for contributing to the construction of a culture of well-being sustainability.
Founded in 2011, the journal was created with the aim of rigorously and multidisciplinarily exploring issues related to sustainable development, fostering dialogue among scholars, researchers, and professionals from diverse fields. Economics, law, philosophy, social sciences, and territorial studies find here a common space for discussion, essential to address complex problems that cannot be understood from a single perspective.
Well-being sustainability, in fact, is not only an environmental issue: it also concerns equity among individuals and territories, quality of life, access to resources, and the ability to develop models that do not compromise the future. The journal aims to analyze these dimensions in an integrated manner, contributing to international scientific debate and providing reflection tools for those tasked with making strategic decisions.
Over time, the Journal of Sustainability Studies has established itself as a reference point for a broad and diverse community: scholars, policymakers, entrepreneurs, public administrators, and, more generally, anyone interested in the major challenges of our time. The publication hosts contributions from both Italian and international authors, promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences across contexts and stimulating the development of new visions for the future of human development.
The value of this publication also lies in its rigorous scientific process. Published articles undergo a peer review system, ensuring the quality of contributions and the robustness of the research presented. This internationally adopted method allows for the selection of original and innovative studies, reinforcing the journal’s role as a reliable and shared knowledge production platform.
Alongside the journal, the Foundation also promotes two editorial series that further broaden the field of reflection. The Economics and Governance of Sustainability series, conceived and directed for many years by Prof. Rosa Misso, one of the pillars of the Fondazione Simone Cesaretti ETS, explores practical tools and strategies to pursue well-being sustainability, analyzing economic and governance processes that can steer development toward more balanced models.
The Agriculture and Well-Being series, on the other hand, addresses the relationship between food systems, health, and sustainability through the “Food for Sustainability” approach. This series covers studies on food security, food quality, health protection, and the emerging frontiers of bioenergy.
Through these editorial initiatives, the Fondazione Simone Cesaretti ETS strengthens its role as a bridge between the knowledge system and local territories, promoting a vision of sustainability as a long-term cultural and social project. The dissemination of studies, analyses, and proposals represents a fundamental step in building a more balanced development model that can combine economic growth, social cohesion, and resource protection.
In a world undergoing profound transformations, investing in knowledge means investing in the future. The Journal of Sustainability Studies and the Foundation’s editorial series represent exactly this: a place for research, dialogue, and vision, where ideas and expertise can contribute to imagining and building a more responsible, sustainable society attentive to the generations to come.
